The Tuareg people live in the Sahara Desert in Africa. They are known as the "blue people" because the men wear indigo-dyed blue turbans to hide their faces and bodies, and are a desert nomadic people famous for being a matrilineal society.
The silver products they make are one of the traditional crafts that have been passed down from generation to generation. There is a theory that they are the first people in Africa to start silverworking, and in Europe they are recognized as native jewelry that is on par with Indian jewelry.
The patterns are carefully carved by hand, one stroke at a time, and are imbued with meanings such as warding off evil spirits, and are heavily influenced by ancient myths and folk tales. The unique design, which is sharp yet rounded, makes this a silver collection that can be enjoyed by both men and women.
